Yes, this is my favorite funny video so far. People are always asking me what video of mine is my favorite. That was a hard question to answer because I don’t really like to re-watch something that I’ve stared at for hours and hours. I make a judgement call once a video is polished, run it by my family- and if there are no laughs, no reaction at all, it ain’t going up on the web. If there are laughs or tears or some positive reaction - then I post to the web and try to forget about it after that.

I have to distance myself from a project for a while before I can appreciate it again. hahah Now this particular video was a different story. I was literally laughing out loud while editing. Probably because KevJUMBA’s clip was so funny to work from. Yes, I asked him to do the grooving to the song and the lines to the auntie character. Isn’t he awesome? :-)

As soon as I had heard Josh Verdes‘ fabulous song - “Save Me”, I immediately knew I could build a video off of that. You can listen and download his song from Josh’s myspace. The top player on his page is to listen to the entire thing, and the player below that (Snocap) is where you can purchase it if you so desire. The lovely lady singing harmony on that track is his sister, Jana.

Some may wonder what the point is -in the “Boypren” video. It’s just a humorous look into how family members sometimes will compare each other and put people on the spot about private matters.

This was the hardest video to record and edit. Not only did I have to prep so many angles. (only 1 camera folks) I have a rickety old tripod my dad gave me and its kinda hard to work with. The floodlights are blinding, hot, and difficult to place correctly- but hey, just another enjoyable day on the job! heh heh The most annoying thing to me, is that I had to re-record 4 of my characters. Part of this was because I was rushing and didn’t check each section before proceeding to the next character. Bad Christine! :-(

1) The auntie: lighting was weird and I forgot 2 of her lines

2) The dad: I forgot to take my ring off the hand that was holding the lumpia shanghai. (eggroll)

3) Christine: Lighting was horrendous.

4) Minnie: Lighting and angle was just weird.

So it’s not as easy as it looks! I almost re-recorded my mom’s character too because it was starting to annoy me that she wasn’t centered in the camera. I did position her like that on purpose though. (trying to give the illusion of mom, dad, and me on the couch) However, I let that slide because I was anxious to start editing.

So yes, the editing was intense and difficult because of all the characters to overlap with each other. One day I will have a better computer system and software to be able to put the characters into one shot. For now though, I’m maximizing what I have heh heh.

It’s nice to be able to write a script, tell someone to “groove” to a new song, and be confident that they can pull it off with no problem. This is the talent of Kevin (KevJUMBA) - the #1 Most Subscribed Comedian on YouTube right now. I didn’t need to micro manage and tell him how to do it. I knew he would display the charisma that he usually does… The rose? That’s all him, ladies. :-)

I believe the casting department should receive a nice raise for that choice. Yes thank you, an iPhone would be a great reward thank you very much. hahah! Look at who appears on the 37 sec. mark in that video link to an iPhone review.

A few funny insights into this vid…

1) I used 8 eggrolls (lumpia shanghai) nicely toasted from the toaster oven to achieve that nice crrrunch.

2) The mom, dad, auntie, and my character were recorded during wildly different times of the day. For example - mom at 1pm and my character at 12 midnight.

3) You can see a flash of my white pajama pants when the auntie exclaims “Wow!” when catching her daughter watching Kevin on the web cam. I love working from home. Means you can wear pajamas for the most part, and just keep changing the top for each character hahah!

Finally, to address those that were disappointed that I didn’t put the usual tag line at the end “Christine, be sure to wear your happy slip!”, I didn’t think it fit well with the music in the end. I listened to it, and it just didn’t sound right. In some of my other videos you might notice that I do leave it out depending on the mood of the piece. It’s all about the flow yaknowutimsayin? :-)
