Your favorite Filipino jokes Ep.1
Well many of you had jokes to share and I thought it would be fun to let the HappySlip family turn them into video form! Click here for more episodes. It was funny to see how many different versions of these jokes have come about through the years. I’m surprised that even though I have heard many of them, it is still fun to recite them to others!
For those that may not get some of these (like my own mom) lemme explain a bit…
Auntie’s joke: chicken, nut, bread
When saying “She cannot breath” - it sounds similar to saying “chicken nut bread”
Mom’s joke: tenacious
When hearing the word tenacious - one could possibly interpret it to be “tennis shoes” as the Mom character did.
Dad’s joke: Sinigang
One of my favorite dishes - Sinigang - which is a sour soup served with different vegetables and pork or some other meat. It is incomplete without the patis!! (stinky fish sauce) I also used this term to identify a group of guys I grew up with - calling them a Sini-gang.
Lola’s joke: Dinuguan
Lola says the lights “did not go on” or sounds like “dinuguan” which is famous for being called the “chocolate meat” dish. I never did acquire the fondness for this dish, that my parents hoped I would. “You have to develop your taste, Kissteen” my Mom would say. ehhh
